Hardware requirements
This version supports the following Zaurus models: SL-5600, SL-6000, SL-C7x0/C860 and SL-C3000.
You need to install different mplayer packages depending on your Zaurus model.
Software requirements
Sharp compatible Qtopia based ROM (for example, Cacko ROM, original
Japanese Sharp ROM)
Desktop DVD conversion:
If you plan to convert DVD to view on Zaurus these are recommended
codec settings (you'll be able to watch videos without frame drops):
- Orientation: Landscape (software rotation
consumes about 20-30% of processing time)
- Resolution: 320x240 4:3 or 428x240 16:9
(make sure to enable Smart Crop option in this case)
- Video bitrate: 512 Kbit/s - optimal
between video quality and file size.
- Audio settings: 44100/128 Kbit/s, stereo
- Codec: 2 pass DivX 5.0 codec with 'B
frames' for smooth video playback.
Very simple and easy to use program for Microsoft Windows for DVD to
AVI for Zaurus conversion in one step is PocketDivXEncoder. Nice movie
watching :)
Kino2 menus
File
- Open: open file from selected
location
- Open URL: open file from internet
address
- Save playlist: save current play list in
selected location
- File info: display file information
- Preferences: view and modify program

View
- Scale: hardware scale of 160x120 or
320x240 videos to full 480x640 display.
- Turn LCD off: turns LCD off. Click
Cancel button to turn LCD on.
- Playlist: show/hide play list
- Slider: show/hide slider with
total/current playtime
Preferences
General
- Enable cache: specify cache size for
streaming media.
- Bandwidth: select bandwidth of your
internet connection
- Advanced options:

- Additional command line parameters for mplayer:
enter any additional parameters for mplayer, which don�t have
corresponding options in kino2 preferences
- Debug output to console: enable this
option and start kino2 from console to see output from mplayer. Only
enable this option for troubleshooting purposes.
- Supported file types: list of file
extensions, which will be visible in File Open dialog.
Video
Audio
- Resample audio: enable if rate of audio
track in video file is different from 44100 Khz.
- Turning off LCD during audio playback:
enable this option to automatically torn off LCD screen when playing
audio. Note that it�s not recommended to enable this option if
you mix audio and video files in playlist.
- Use SDL for audio output:
this option will make mplayer user SDL for audio output instead of default OSS
Playback
- Playback mode: select play list playback
mode from normal (once), repeat or random
- Performance: allows specifying CPU
frequency for video & audio playback. For example for MP3 playback
select 'Power saving' to extend battery life or select 'Overclocked' to
speed up video playback (consume more power)
- Process priority: specify priority for
mplayer process. Should be left default, but you can
experiment with different values to see if it helps improve video
playback performance.
Controls
- Launch kino2 with remote: select this
option if you want to automatically launch kino2 when remote control
button is pressed. Otherwise Sharp Music Player will start. Note
that in Cacko ROM 1.22 Sharp Music Player has been removed and needs to
be installed separately.
- Pause video playback when closing lid:
enable this option to automaticaly psue/resume video playback when lid is closed/opened.
- Mappings: customize keyboard and remote
control button mappings
Playlist
- Start playback on tap: immediately start
playback when tapping on playlist item
- Add file to playliist on tap when opening:
when opening file file and this option is enabled, then selected file will be
automaticaly added to the playlist and file dislog will be closed.
- Encodings: specify encoding for MP3 tags
and playlist contents. Make sure to select proper encodings if
MP3 tags are displayed incorrectly.
