Hardware requirements
This kino2 version supports most Zaurus models: SL-5600, SL-6000,
SL-C7x0/C860 and SL-C1000/3000/3100. However hardware-accelerated video
playback is only available on SL-C7x0/C860 and SL-C1000/3000/3100 models
with applropriate mplayer version installed.
Software requirements
- Sharp compatible Qtopia based ROM (for example, Cacko ROM, original
Japanese Sharp ROM).
- When using Original Japanese Sharp ROM: Tetsu special kernel (v18
or newer) for SL-C1000/3000/3100.
- Mplayer for Zaurus
version 1.5 and above: mplayer-bvdd-iwmmxt_1.1.5-1_arm.ipk for
SL-C1000/3000/3100 models, mplayer-bvdd_1.1.5-1_arm.ipk for all other
models.
- PXA 270 video driver (bvdd_0.4.0-1_arm.ipk) for SL-C1000/3000/3100.
Desktop DVD conversion:
If you plan to convert DVD to view on Zaurus these are recommended
codec settings (you'll be able to watch videos without frame drops):
- Orientation: Landscape (software rotation
consumes about 20-30% of processing time)
- Resolution: 320x240 4:3 or 428x240 16:9
(make sure to enable Smart Crop option in this case)
- Video bitrate: 512 Kbit/s - optimal
between video quality and file size.
- Audio settings: 44100/128 Kbit/s, stereo
- Codec: 2 pass DivX 5.0 codec with 'B
frames' for smooth video playback.
Very simple and easy to use program for Microsoft Windows for DVD to
AVI for Zaurus conversion in one step is PocketDivXEncoder. Nice movie
watching :)
